Practice 02

Commercial Spaces

Four commercial commissions a year, by selection. Ateliers, clinics, tasting rooms, consulting suites and private galleries — places that earn their keep without shouting.

The kind of brief we take

The commercial work that suits us shares one thing with the residential side of the studio: the client intends to stay. We take on shopfronts that will remain in place for five years or more, clinics whose practitioners care about the room their patients sit in, and consulting suites where conversations are private and slow.

We do not tender for chain rollouts, hospitality groups or speculative shell fit-outs. Where a brief involves a tight back-of-house brief — a clinic with imaging suites, or a kitchen with a wood-fired oven — we partner with specialist consultants the studio has worked with for at least seven years.

Typical engagements

  • Retail boutiques, ateliers and showrooms — 60 to 220 square metres
  • Medical clinics, dental rooms and private consultancies — 90 to 300 sqm
  • Tasting rooms, private dining counters and small wine merchants
  • Single-tenant office floors and partner-led law and finance suites
  • Private galleries, archives and small foundation spaces

What we promise

The same standard of drawing as the residential practice, the same fixed-price commitment, the same principal designer reading every detail. Nothing on the commercial side is treated as a less personal commission.

Speak with us about a commercial brief

We reply personally within two working days. If we are not the right studio for the brief, we will say so and recommend someone who is.
